How to write a Kijiji services ad that gets calls
People on Kijiji are ready to hire, and they compare ads quickly. A clear, honest ad with real photos stands out from the dozens that say “cheap, fast, call now.”
- Pick the right category under Services, so your ad shows up where people look for your trade.
- Write a specific title. “Licensed Electrician – Panel Upgrades, Pot Lights, EV Chargers” beats “Electrician available.”
- Lead with what you do and where. List your main jobs and the towns you serve in the first two lines.
- Show you're legit. Mention your licence, insurance, WSIB coverage and years of experience.
- Add 6 to 10 real photos. Kijiji allows up to 10. Before-and-afters work best. Never use pictures from the internet.
- Give a price guide if you can, like “Service calls from $X.” It filters out people who won't hire you.
- Make it easy to reach you. Phone number, hours, and how fast you reply. Use Kijiji's optional tags (up to 5) for the jobs you want most.
Kijiji's rules for service ads in 2026
Kijiji tightened its rules for service providers in 2026. Breaking them can get your ad removed or your account restricted, so it's worth knowing them before you post.
- Services is a paid category. Since May 2026, posting in Services costs money. Kijiji says fees vary by category, account type and posting history, and you'll see your options, including paid visibility packages, before you publish.
- One ad per service, not one per city. Posting the same service in several categories or cities counts as a duplicate. Kijiji's filters remove duplicates automatically, and repeat offences can lead to account restrictions. The only exception is if you're genuinely located between two Kijiji regions.
- Bundle related services. Electrical installation and repair belong in one ad. Clearly different trades, like carpentry and plumbing, can have their own ads.
- Describe your services accurately. No exaggerated or misleading claims, and include clear contact information.
- One account only. Kijiji prohibits using extra accounts to avoid fees or posting limits.
Keep it near the top
Ads slide down as new ones are posted. Instead of posting copies, which Kijiji now removes, keep one strong ad up to date with fresh photos and use Kijiji's paid promotion features during your busy season. Kijiji's distance and province-wide search options also help people outside your town find you.
